Gift of Desire

Chris took off his hoodie to reveal his suit "Guess I'm the bad guy now huh" he said charging up as lightning surrounded him before swirling into his fists. He charged towards the guards.

"My pass is right here in my belt, I swear." Jacob spoke, stepping back to gain distance away from the guards as he developed a plan, he could hear Chris starting a fight with the guards and incorporated that into his plan to coax the guards to turn their heads.

"Might want to check out what's going on over there, someone with super powers might be causing trouble." Jacob pointed.

"Aw shit, not again, don't move kid" The guards start running to Chris leaving Jacob's side. The mayor is still rehearsing her speech in clear vision of Jacob, not phased by all this drama.

Chris finds himself surrounded by six guards, each unleashing different powers, Fire, Cloning, the like.

"Damn, looks like I'm not even that unique anymore huh?" Chris said and waited a couple seconds. "Okay you're the lucky one" Chris grinned while he nearly instantaneously blitzed him and punched him in the gut. Lightning sputtered everywhere even burning Chris a bit. "Unfinished but effective" he whispered to himself smiling. He then realized there were 5 other guards surrounding him.

"Sorry for that Chris, I'll give you some backup if you need it but the mayor is the main concern right now." Jacob spoke through his shades' communicator and through Chris' earpiece.

Jacob rushed up towards the mayor and began to shout. "Mrs. Mayor! A moment of your time please?" Jacob removed his hoodie but kept his shades on.

The mayor turns to face Jacob "Oh it's the Avengers, that must mean good news. What is it Stark?" before Jacob could speak, the mayor shouted at the guards "Stand down, he's allowed here men, my orders." The guards around Chris deactivated their powers and backed off

"I apologize for bothering you and your men here today, Mayor." Jacob began, lifting his shades up onto his forehead. "But this conference today isn't safe for you, there's someone intending on harming you and the people out there, so it's best to call the conference off." He didn't want to scare the Mayor too bad.

Chris smiled at the guard knowing that they couldn't touch him anymore "You guys got lucky this time, but not bad." He walked away gripping his hand in pain but trying not to show it on his face.

The mayor put down her script for the speech "Well Stark, it's good to know I have the Avengers guarding me then, I'll be safe during this conference certainly. My words need to be out there, the people deserve to know, You are welcome on stage with me to guard if you must so if you'll excuse me, I have to finish up practicing. "

5 minutes remaining.

Thinking about what Alex Cross had told him earlier about the Timekeeper, Jacob thought for a moment and turned his head towards Chris. "Go and scope the buildings around Times Square, make sure no one is able to snipe the mayor from afar, okay?" Jacob asked.

"I'll stay here backstage and watch you as you start your conference, I'll watch the crowd from behind and get every possible angle." Jacob replied to the Mayor, his hoodie quickly changed into his Toxin outfit.

"Got it" Chris said to Jacob. He ran away from the event to get to higher ground.

4 minutes remaining

Suddenly from behind Jacob, the screams of teen girls were heard "AHHH IT'S JACOB STARK!", fangirls had followed him backstage, they were now screaming almost randomly, as high pitched as possible.

Chris see's something odd far away that he only noticed since he was looking for higher ground, he sees the smallest flash of light off of a scope pointed down at the stage. It's too far for Chris to get there in the remaining four minutes however

Jacob jumped from the screams stabbing into his ears and his shades fell down onto his eyes, he lifted them up and turned around to face the crowd of fangirls who kept screaming.

Lifting his arms and motioning for them to calm down so he could talk, Jacob looked at a nearby clock and realized he had a few minutes left.

"Don't get too excited girls, the mayor can't practice her speech with all the commotion, I'll be giving away autographs for the next few minutes until her conference begins, alright?" His heart was racing and he didn't want to let them down, but didn't want to fail his mission.

Chris saw the light and talked over his earpiece "Jacob I see a flash at (Bullshit)O'clock" can you get to it in time? I don't think I'll be able to make it.

3 minutes left

The girls are screaming too loud for Jacob to understand fully but they're starting to calm down

"What was that Chris? I can't fully understand you!" Jacob shouted, he signed a few of the girls books, pictures, and other 'assets' as he kept peering up at the clock.

"Dammit" Chris said, a little frustrated. He ran back to the event "we have to evacuate the mayor now." He mentioned, still running.

Jacob fully understood what Chris said towards the end and quickly calmed the fangirls down. "Sorry girls, but the conference is about to get cancelled." He turned towards the mayor and began walking towards her as the fangirls were confused. "Mrs. Mayor, I'm sorry but it's absolutely not safe to be here." He was about to escort her away from the stage.

2 minutes left

The mayor protests "Aren't you heroes supposed to save the day, you must have some information to think it's not safe. Use that information and help me, this press conference will go on."

Chris arrived on the scene overhearing the conversation "Time to go" he said grabbing her and carrying her over his shoulder walking away from the scene.

1 minute left

The mayor is kicking trying to get loose "Let go of me this instant!" she screams as Chris begins to carry her out, the bodyguards block the way for Chris to get out.

"This is for your own good, Mrs. Mayor." Jacob waved a few fangirls off and followed after Chris. "Let us pass if you're truly her bodyguards." Jacob threatened.

The bodyguards say "Mayor, what do you want us to do?" they haven't changed stance from their initial defensive stance. The mayor says "Get me down from here immediately!" and the bodyguards draw their batons

"Lower your weapons." Jacob threatened. "If you were her bodyguards, you would trust us to protect her, and not risk her safety by wasting time."

[18]The guards lowered their batons and one of the guards approached Jacob "Only cause you're the avengers, I grew up idolizing your father sir, please help us save the mayor"
